What’s in My Bag: Sustainability Edition

by Alice Shen / Aug 21, 2020

Raise your hand if you’ve ever gone down the ‘what’s in my bag’ YouTube tag loophole and ended up watching more than ten videos in one go? Shamelessly, most of us have been there – it was fun. But since then, the world around has changed in huge ways and things like plastic bottles and lack of reusable items in our bags are a no-no.

As we become more environmentally conscious, finding ways to reduce waste and live a more sustainable life includes what we put into our bags too. Keep reading for our sustainable twist on ‘what’s in my bag’.

The Sustainable Bag

You can’t have sustainable items in your bag without the bag itself being sustainable. Whether you’re more into tote bags, or you’re a handbag kind of girl or guy, it’s important to invest in a bag that you can use for years.

At SENREVE, we don’t compromise on our commitment to sustainability. Our goal to produce products that mindfully balance both the environment and our love of luxury is why we created our Vegan collection. All products are 100% vegan, made with no animal products or by-products. Our Vegan Midi Maestra is big enough to fit your iPad or Surface Pro, and it also can be worn four ways: as a backpack, crossbody, satchel or tote. That’s pretty much 4 bags in one. Does it get any eco-friendlier?

What’s in My Bag?

1. Reusable Water Bottle

Switching to a reusable water bottle is a no-brainer and an accessible way to reduce your carbon footprint. The important thing here is to always remember to keep it in your bag, because if you forget it and get thirsty when you leave the house, you’ll be forced to purchase a single use plastic bottle of water. Think of your reusable water bottle as one of your bag essentials (like your wallet), take it everywhere you go. Going on a flight? Take it with you. Going to see a movie? Take it with you!

2. Wallet

With our reusable bottles and cups taking up a little more space (for a good cause!) in our bags, a smaller wallet is in order. With a smaller wallet, you’ll be less likely shove loads of receipts in it (less receipts = less waste of paper). Like your bag, invest in a high-quality wallet that’ll last for a while and won’t break apart within 6 months. Our sleek Card Wallet is a perfectly sized wallet, coin purse and card holder all in one!

3. Reusable Coffee Cup

For most of us, a morning coffee is non-negotiable. Zoom meeting before your first cup? How about no. Whether you like your coffee hot, iced, with almond milk or oat – using a keep cup everyday can save about 23 pounds of waste per year. Most cafés offer an incentive when you bring in your own cup too, so you’ll be saving bucks while doing your part to save the planet.

4. Facial Mist

A beauty must have we love to keep in our bag is a facial mist for an instant refreshing and hydrating hit to the skin. Our favorite is Jurlique’s Rosewater Balancing Mist.

Not only is its lightweight glass packaging made from recyclable content, but the ingredients are all grown on their organic and sustainable farm in South Australia. When it comes to beauty products, look for ones that are sustainable and care for the planet inside and out.

We're constantly trying to do our part to become more sustainable and thoughtful, especially when it comes to our everyday items. What are some of your favorite eco-conscious brands that you're carrying in your bag?
